Happy New Year from Uminari Taiko! What a year we have had – Pandemic, masks, wildfire smoke, cancelled classes, cancelled gigs, cancelled taiko conference…. Here’s hoping 2021 will bring better luck. 2020 started out normally with our annual Open House in January and we held a Beginner Workshop and registered people for a 6 week class in February. We had begun receiving booking requests for Spring events but then the pandemic lockdown was announced in March and everything came to a screeching halt. All classes, workshops and drop in sessions were put on hold as we waited to see how long it would last. At that time we still thought we would be performing at summer events, so as soon as the weather got better we began practising outdoors.
We were able to play at 2 outdoor events as well as the VNCS Virtual Fair. All other events were cancelled or postponed indefinitely. We haven’t scheduled any classes for 2021 but once things improve we will update our web-site with a new schedule.
明けましておめでとうございます。 昨年は何て年だったでしょう。パンデミック、マスク、山火事、講習会中止、ライブ中止、太鼓カンファレンス中止…. 2021年が良い年になることを願っています。
2020年のスタートは、1月に毎年恒例のオープンハウスを開催し、2月にはビギナーワークショップを開催し、6週間のクラスへの登録をしていただきました。春のイベントの予約受付を開始していましたが、3月にパンデミックによるロックダウンが発表され、全てが絶望的な状態になりました。 通常クラス、ワークショップ、ドロップインセッションはすべて保留となり、どのくらいの期間続くのかを待っていました。その頃はまだ夏のイベントで演奏することを考えていたので、天候が良くなってきたらすぐに屋外での練習を始めました。
その結果、VNCSバーチャルフェアの他、2つの野外イベントで演奏することができました。その他のイベントは全て中止または無期延期となりました。 2021年のクラスはまだ予定していませんが、状況が改善され次第、新しいスケジュールをホームページにアップしていきます。
